Just because you become a parent doesn’t mean you have to give up jogging. In fact, making sure that your precious newborn baby gets outside and gets some fresh air is a great incentive to keep active. We wholeheartedly support combining mommy or daddy duties with fitness, so we have compiled a list of five of the best jogging stroller car seat combos for you.
Why Buy a Car Seat Stroller Combo?
You might be wondering why you would buy an all-in-one combo stroller with an accompanying car seat when you could just as easily buy each separately. This is a valid point, especially so if you’re looking to purchase a stroller to use mainly for jogging. There are a few good reasons to consider though on why you should go with this choice. The first reason is simply price. It’s often far cheaper to just buy a car seat stroller combo than it would be to buy each item on it’s own. Everyone has varying levels of disposable income so this should be one of the first points to keep in mind when shopping for a jogging stroller. The next thing to consider is convenience. This goes hand-in-hand with pricing sometimes as it’s far more convenient to have one product that takes care of your needs than to deal with several different ones. A good stroller car seat combo makes it easy to be able to go jogging with your baby as well as being able to quickly put their car seat into your vehicle for transportation. Simply remove the car seat from the stroller and clip it into the car seat base in your /back seat. Easy as that! This makes them great not only for jogging, but for handling every day errands as well. Best of all, many strollers built for this are highly efficient when it comes to breaking the stroller down and removing the car seat. They feature trouble free locking systems which allow you to lock and unlock the wheel on the stroller quickly and easily. They are also designed with durability and longevity in mind. Most stroller car seat combos also come with excellent warranties.
What to Look For When Buying a Jogging Stroller Car Seat Combo
When you’re shopping for a stroller to use for jogging, there’s a few things to look out for. On top of this, when you add a car seat to the package, you also need to know what the best features are for that as well. We’re here to give you a hand with that. Here’s what you should be looking out for:
High quality rubber tires as they absorb the shock from bumps in the road better than plastic tires, providing a smoother ride for your precious cargo.
Make sure the stroller is the right size for you. The last thing you want is to take your new stroller out jogging and finding that your legs and feet bump into the stroller with every step that you take.
Check that you are comfortable with the maneuverability as some people take some time to adjust to using a stroller with three wheels, which most jogging strollers feature.
Are the brakes and locking mechanisms easy to use? Are they working properly? And is the car seat easy to remove from the stroller and place back into it? You’ll want to make sure this feels smooth and efficient.
Examine the car seat and the car seat base. Are both made of high quality material? Sturdy?
Evaluate how much space you have in the back of your vehicle. Will the stroller fit properly once broken down?
If you travel often, consider the overall weight of the product. You might be better off with a more lightweight stroller if you commute often.
So now that we know what to look out for when buying your stroller, let’s take a look at five of the best jogging stroller car seat combos available today.
This jogging stroller also comes with the Graco SnugRide Click Connect 35 rear facing infant car seat. It’s suited for infants between 4-35 pounds and up to 32 inches tall. It’s convenient for parents as well, as it boasts a one second, one hand folding system making it easy to store following use. The locking front wheel swivel of the stroller make for an easy transition between a leisurely stroll and jogging. Simply lock the front wheel for added stability while you are jogging and unlock it for increased maneuverability while going for a relaxed stroll. The car seat itself has deluxe, padded, multi-position reclining features for your baby’s ultimate comfort. A couple of the negatives we found with this stroller is that it’s overall quite a large stroller. This makes it fairly heavy, something to consider if you’re a brand new mother. If you travel frequently you may want to consider a smaller, more lightweight option. Another con to keep in mind is that the included phone holder doesn’t fit some recent smart phones. It’s still overall a great pick though!
The next stroller featured on our list is the Baby Trend Expedition LX Millennium model. This won’t be the first time that Baby Trend makes an appearance, as they make outstanding stroller car seat models for jogging. This particular stroller can accommodate babies of up to 30 pounds and up to 30 inches in height. Like the previous stroller, it features a locking front wheel swivel for easy transitions between walking and jogging. It also comes with parent and child trays, along with a large storage basket and adjustable canopy. It’s perfect for carrying diaper bags and other necessities! Compared to the Graco model above, this product is far more lightweight and perhaps more ideal for newborn mothers who travel often. The car seat base is a bit on the heavy side but overall the stroller is very light and perfect for portability. It’s also quite an affordable option!
The next entry on our list is the Expedition Jogger Travel System Phantom model, another Baby Trend product. The car seat can hold a baby between 5-30 pounds and up to 30 inches tall. The stroller meanwhile can accommodate newborns up 50 pounds and a maximum height of 42 inches. The multi-position, reclining padded car seat has an included five-point safety harness and tether strap. In addition to keeping your baby nice and safe, the stroller features all-terrain bicycle tires to ensure a nice smooth ride for your little one whenever you are out jogging. One of the only negatives that we could find with this particular stroller is that it can be cumbersome to remove the car seat from the base in the car and from the stroller itself. It’s also another stroller that’s a little bit on the larger side, so once again, keep that in mind if you’ll be using it fairly often.
The fourth jogging stroller car seat combo recommendation we have for you is yet another Baby Trend product. The EZ Ride 5 Travel System Hounds Tooth model features many of the same benefits as the previous two Baby Trend models listed, including being suitable for infants up to 30 pounds in weight and 30 inches in height. One main difference is that it’s a little bit less expensive compared to the other models, making it a great options for families on a budget. This stroller comes highly recommended due to it’s lightweight, easy to use transfer between stroller and car seat base, and overall high quality at an affordable price. We had a hard time finding any cons with this model, as most of them came down to simple manufacturing defects. This one is definitely a solid choice!
The final stroller on our list is another Graco product, and another great one at that. Featuring all of the convenience and comfort of traditional stroller options combined with the durability and performance of a jogging stroller, the Sunshine model will have you covered. It also features rubber tires that are air-inflated to ensure a smoother ride for your baby along with the simple FastAction fold which is guaranteed to be a one-second, one-hand maneuver. The accompanying SnugRide Click Connect 35 car seat has been crash-tested time and time again, so you can feel comfortable knowing that your baby will be safe and sound when riding in it. It’s also easy to install, either in the car seat base or the stroller itself.
The only real downside is that similar to the Gotham model at the top of the list, this stroller is a bit on the larger side. This can be a problem if you’re trying to fit it into a smaller vehicle. If you have the space for it and you’re fine with the size though, this is a great option for anyone looking for a little bit convenience to go along with their active lifestyle.
